Melanie Brsan-Villasenor

Melanie Brsan Villasenor has had the pleasure of being on faculty of this camp since it began over 20 years ago. She has enjoyed teaching piano for over 20 years and has also been staff accompanist and small ensemble director at Joliet West High School since 2001.  Melanie has been principle accompanist for the Naperville Men’s Glee Club since 2006.  She took Suzuki piano lessons with Linda Poquette and also studied with Bruce Berr, Melody Lord, Marilyn Taggart, and most recently Winston Choi, who is helping her prepare for her performance of Gershwin’s Concerto in F with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra in June.  She has a BM in Piano Performance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she studied with Dr. Jim Breckendridge.  Melanie has extensive Suzuki repertoire and technique training with Marilyn Taggart and also attends yearly pedagogy conferences .  When she is not teaching, accompanying, practicing, or performing, she enjoys traveling and exploring Chicago with her husband, Lyndon who she met while taking piano lessons as a child.
