Melanie Brsan

Melanie Brsan has a BM in Piano Performance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she studied under Dr. James Breckenridge. She took Suzuki piano lessons with Linda Poquette and has coached with teachers including Dr. Bruce Berr, Melody Lord, and Dr. Ray Landers. Ms. Brsan maintains a full piano studio in Shorewood, IL.  Shortly after she opened her piano studio, she was chosen as a finalist for the MTNA Studio Fellowship Award for best new teacher in the US. She continues her post-graduate education by attending pedagogy conferences and workshops, including MTNA and NCKP, as well as extensive Suzuki repertoire and technique training with Marilyn Taggart.  Her students participate in performances and competitions, many of which have received awards and scholarships, and have pursued music as a career.   Melanie has enjoyed being on faculty at Kankakee Valley Piano Camp at Olivet University since it began. She is also looking forward to her second year on the piano faculty at Green Mountain Suzuki Institute in Rochester, VT.   She is active as an accompanist/pianist for choirs and churches, instrumentalists, vocalists, and opera singers, including full-time accompanist and small group director at Joliet West High School.  Melanie is also principle accompanist for the Naperville Men's Glee Club, who performed at Kennedy Center in February 2013 as part of the National Presidents' Day Choral Festival. She enjoys spending time in the city, Chicago, traveling, and will become a Mrs. in May of 2014!
